Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake (Review)

First of all I could not wait to get my hands on a copy of Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake. I
cyberstalked trying to find ways to get a copy of this story. Thanks to Rachel from Beauty and the Bookshelf.
I finally got an ARC. Thanks Rachel!

Let me start off by saying that I absolutely loved Anna Dressed in Blood. I knew that it would be hard for Girl of Nightmares to live up to my expectations. I was wrong and I was pleasantly surprised. The Girl of Nightmares was a very enjoyable read.

PROS
I love the cover!
The central characters are awesome!
I love the spookiness and the creep factor.
There was just the right amount of comedy.
The ending left me filled with sadness.

CONS
I would have loved to have read more about Anna in this book.
Jestine was fantastic, I would have loved for her to have played a bigger role..
The ending left me filled with sadness. (Yes. This was my pro and con)

Overall Score- 4 Stars

I would highly recommend this story.

Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake (Review)

BLURB:
Just your average boy-meets-girl, girl-kills-people story...

Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.

So did his father before him, until his gruesome murder by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father’s mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.

When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn’t expect anything outside of the ordinary: move, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he’s never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, but now stained red and dripping blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.

And she, for whatever reason, spares his life.

I am fairly new to the YA market. For some reason, I didn't think that YA books would interest me much. I  was fascinated by the blurb to Anna Dressed in Blood and couldn't wait to get a copy. I am so happy that I read this story. It is by far one of the best books that I have read this year.  Cas Lowood leads a very exciting life as a ghost hunter. Although Anna is a killer, I couldn't  help but feel compassion for her. There is quite a bit of violence and gore and I personally wouldn't recommend this story for the lower age of the YA audience. This is one of those books, that I  hated to see end and can't wait for the sequel.

Rating- A+

I have read an insane amount of books over the years. But my all-time favorite hottie
hero is Ruark Beauchamp from the novel Shanna by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss. There is
nothing like a strong alpha male, that will do anything to protect his lady. Every few
years I take this off of my keeper shelf and re-read it.
